The Church Covenant
During the early part of the twentieth century and possibly earlier the Church's Annual Report contained not only a Report by the Minister and the Church Accounts but also the Church Covenant.
The Covenant used at Sarn and its sister Church at Cwm (now closed) was as follows:-
In this Covenant we pledge ourselves:-
- To be faithful in attending the meetings of the Church. "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together. (Heb. x:25).
- To do our part in maintaining the cause, as the Lord prospers us, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, how He said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts xx:35). (See also 1Cor. xvi:2; 2Cor. viii:9; ix:6-8).
- To promote a brotherly and forgiving spirit (Eph. iv:31-32; Col. iii:12-13), and in the case of offence to follow the direction of our Lord as seen in Matt. xviii:15-17.
- To give and take brotherly advice, remembering the Divine exhortation in Heb. iii:12-13.
- To keep matters pertaining to the Church within the circle of the Church's own membership.
